Who is responsible for your data

BrikMentor is email automation software used by online stores. When a store sends you email through BrikMentor, the store decides what to send and to whom. Under the GDPR the store is the data controller and we act as its processor.

This means requests about the content of a message, or about the relationship between you and the store, are best directed to the store itself. Requests about delivery, unsubscribing or suppression can come to us, and we will act on them regardless.

What we process

Contact data
Email address, and first name where the store has one.
Consent record
How and when the address was collected. We store the source and the date so the store can prove the basis for sending.
Shop activity
Cart contents and order history from the store, used to decide which message to send and which products to show in it.
Delivery events
Whether a message was delivered, bounced or reported as spam. Required to keep sending lawful and functional.
Link clicks
Which link in a message was clicked, so the store can measure whether a campaign worked. Automated requests from scanners and bots are filtered out and not recorded.

We do not use tracking pixels. BrikMentor does not embed an invisible image to detect whether you opened a message, and we do not measure open rates.

Why we process it

  • To send the messages you agreed to receive from the store, on the store's instructions.
  • To stop sending when you ask. An unsubscribed address has to be kept on a suppression list precisely so that nothing reaches it again.
  • To keep the service deliverable. Bounce and complaint data is used to detect senders whose behaviour would otherwise get everyone's mail blocked.

Who else sees it

Messages are delivered through Amazon Simple Email Service, operating in the AWS Europe (Stockholm) region. Amazon acts as our sub-processor and processes the message and the recipient address in order to deliver it.

Payments for store subscriptions are handled by Stripe. That involves the store owner's billing details, not the details of people who receive email.

We do not sell, rent or otherwise share personal data with anyone else.

How long we keep it

  • Contact and shop activity: for as long as the store uses BrikMentor. When a store leaves, its data is deleted.
  • Delivery logs: kept for a limited operational window and then removed. They never contain message content.
  • Suppression entries: kept indefinitely, on purpose. An unsubscribe we forget is an unsubscribe we violate.

Your rights

Where the GDPR applies you may request access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and you may object to processing. You may also complain to your national data protection authority.

To unsubscribe, use the link at the bottom of any message: it works in one click, without a login. To be blocked across every store on the platform, write to abuse@brikmentor.com.

For any other request, write to mail@brikmentor.com. If the request concerns what a particular store sent you, we may need to pass it to that store, since they decide what is sent.

Security

Data is transmitted over TLS. Message content is not retained after delivery, and personal data is not written to application logs.
